Zofia Anna Kaszewicz passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024. She was the widow of Bruno Kaszewicz, who passed away 17 years prior.
Zofia was born October 20, 1926 in the small village of Pielnia, in Eastern Poland. She was the daughter of Franciszka and Michal Bednarczyk. She was educated until 6th grade, when WWII began. After the war, she was married to Bruno and they worked on their farm together, growing everything they needed to survive. This included horses, chickens, cows, vegetables, wheat and many other crops.
In September 1981, three months before Polish martial law, Zofia and Bruno flew to Tacoma, WA to visit their family. They then stayed in Washington, where Zofia became a US citizen in 1986. She worked as a rectory caretaker and chef for Father Cebula at Holy Rosary Church for 17 years. She retired in 1999 at the age of 73. She volunteered much of her time at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tacoma. She was an active member of the Polish National Alliance. She loved gardening and was especially proud of her flowers and tomatoes. Most of all, she loved God, her family and serving others.
She was predeceased by her brothers Bruno, Adam and Teofil. Her younger brother Mietek still lives in Poland. She is also survived by her children, Janina, Stan, Leokadia, and Zbigniew, her grandchildren, Michelle, Kristina, Jimmy, Julie, Jennifer, Marek, Tomek, Michal, Kasia, Kris and Ela, and ten great-grandchildren.
