Zita Mary (Powell) Bucsko

Obituary Zita Mary Bucsko, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on October 13, 2016 in Boone, Iowa. She was born in Concrete, Washington on July 31st, 1922 and moved to Ellensburg at a young age. She graduated from Ellensburg High School and attended Central Washington College where she met Raymond Bucsko. They were married on July 4th, 1942 in Ellensburg. Ray preceded her in death in 1990. Zita began her career as a Legal Secretary and continued to work in the Tacoma area before retiring from the Health Department for the City of Tacoma. Zita especially enjoyed her life-long friends in the St. Placid Club. They were a very special group of ladies who raised money for retired catholic nuns. Their meetings were never dull. Zita loved to entertain, celebrating life and her Irish Heritage. In 2007 she moved to Boone, Iowa. On January 5, 2012, Zita moved to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa where she made many new friends. There she loved playing Bingo, especially if she won. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. Zita is survived by her daughters, Roseann (Dennis) Tonkin in East Wenatchee, Washington; Mary "Corky" (Jeffery) Bucsko-Prater in Ames, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service was held at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma, Washington. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated after the first of the year. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Zita's honor to Camp "I Believe". A Kindred Hospice camp in Boone for children ages 7-14 who have lost someone close to them.
