Obituary Yoshiko Sugiyama passed away peacefully February 16, 2017 at Madigan Hospital in the company of her children. She was born June 16, 1919 in Tacoma. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1937 and University of Puget Sound in 1942. She was married to William for 62 years until his passing in 2009. They moved to Tacoma following her husband's career in the military. She will be remembered for her selfless, unconditional love and devotion to her family. Yoshiko is survived by her son, William Jr; daughter, Mitsu (Johnny Castaneda) Sugiyama; grandsons, William III (Mari) and Caleb Sugiyama; sister, Kimiko (George) Tanbara; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Masataka and Mitsu Fujimoto; her husband, William and sister, Tadaye. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tacoma Buddhist Temple, 1717 South Fawcett Ave, Tacoma.
