Obituary Winifred Marie Cvitanovic 1911 ~ 2008 Winifred Marie (Vukovich) Cvitanovic was born on January 6, 1911 to Dominic and Mare Vukovich. She was born in Tacoma Washington, and lived there all the 97 years of her life. She was married to Vincent Cvitanovic in 1940, and he passed away in November of 1971. Winifred attended St. Patrick's School and was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She also attended Stadium High School. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Women's Club. Winifred was an excellent cook and hostess. Her meals were known from Canada, Washington, Oregon and California where friends and relatives resided, and often visited her and Vince. Winifred enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and they enjoyed the meals she would prepare and her hospitality. No one ever left her house hungry or feeling that they had not taken part in a fantastic meal with the warmth and joy of her presence. She was also a lifelong member of the Slavonian/American Benefit Society, and participated in literally hundreds of their dances and banquets. Winifred loved life and her family deeply. She really enjoyed her three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She lived life to the very end and she passed away on her terms, which was in her home with her family nearby. Winifred's survivors include her son, Jack Cvitanovic and his wife Mary Lynn (McCarthy), grandson Michael and his three children (Jessica, Vincent and Jeni), granddaughters Shannon Shuman (husband Kevin, and children Kyle & Kendall), Elisa Ostrander (husband D.J., and children Alexa, Kylee, and Austin). The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Winifred's primary caregiver Janet Gwyn who was also her dear friend, and to the services provided by Andrea Langley and Linda Knudson of Franciscan Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebration on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
