Obituary William Joseph LaBrie November 28, 1923 ?" April 9, 2009 William "Bill" LaBrie passed peacefully through death to everlasting life on Thursday, April 9. Bill was born in Ontonagon, MI, a town on the shores of Lake Superior that was always close to his heart and which he visited often. He grew up on a farm, one of 13 children, and enlisted in the Navy during World War II, serving many missions flying off an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean. After the war, he attended Marquette University and received a degree in business. He moved to Tacoma shortly thereafter taking a job at Weyerhauser where worked loyally for over 40 years. In Tacoma, he met Helen Garitone and after a brief courtship they were married in 1958. They soon began a family, ultimately having 5 children and 2 grandchildren, and lived happily together until Helen's death in 1996. After Helen's death, Bill continued on ?" enjoying his family, especially his granddaughters, and traveling to see his son Joseph in Los Angeles, his siblings and his navy buddies. Bill was a long-time parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church, a place from which he drew strength and comfort. He was a man of gentle goodness and deep faith who loved his family unconditionally, his friends, his Church, Weyerhauser, and the Green Bay Packers. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his 5 children, Joseph, Mary, John, Elizabeth, and James; his sons-in law Daniel Frederick and Danny LoPiore; his two grandchildren Lauren and Kaitlin Frederick; his baby twin sisters Joan and Jeannette; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 11:00 am at St. Charles Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 13, 2009, 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Charles Borromeo School. Please leave online condolences at www.GaffneyCares.com.
