Obituary William "Bill" Francis Borba Bill Borba was born in Sacramento, CA on April 3, 1937, and died peacefully at home in Tacoma, WA on June 21, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Peggy, and is loved and remembered by his children Daniel, Eileen (Paul), Andrew (Janet), and Maureen; grandchildren Alise, Peter, Correia, and Walker; brother Bob; brother-in-law Jim Maloney and niece Peggy Sullivan. Bill grew up in Elk Grove, CA, received his B.S. in Physical Therapy from U. C. Berkeley and an M.B.A from Pacific Lutheran University. He was the head of P.T. at Virginia Mason, Good Samaritan and Tacoma General Hospitals; he helped found and create the comprehensive rehabilitation facility Northwest Therapy, and he taught at the University of Puget Sound. A physical therapist, teacher, mentor, and friend of the earth, Bill lived for and dedicated his life to helping those around him. Always welcoming, tolerant and unconditionally open-hearted, he was active in peace and social justice movements. A man of ever-new passions and projects, Bill built a rowing skull, played the cello, learned Portuguese, traversed the country in "The Blue Turtle" and in the last year refurbished, publicized and drove a fully electric car. We celebrate the simple, humble perfection of his contribution to humanity, to the medical community, his devoted care of his wife, and his deep love of his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. A special thanks to Bill Bichsel (S.J.), and Selma Wheeler. A memorial service in celebration of Bill's life will be held Thursday, June 26th, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. at St. Leo Parish, 710 S. 13th St., Tacoma. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests memorials be made to Tacoma Lesotho Connection or YMCA of Tacoma-Pierce County.
