Obituary Wilfred Georg Gustav Schreieck Known to friends as "Wil", born August 11th, 1927 in Neustadt Germany passed away October 7th, 2012 in the presence of his close family following a brief hospitalization. He is survived by his children Patrick Schreieck and Cynthia Whitley and seven grandchildren; Brandon, Aaron, Maxwell, George, Garrett, Mariel and Jillian. His two surviving sisters, Hildegund and Irmgard reside in Germany along with his nieces; Petra, Vera, Liz and Vicky. Wilfred led a rich and full life. He served nearly 30 years in the US Army, became a US citizen and fought campaigns in both Korea and Viet Nam before he retired as Command Sergeant Major and settled in Lakewood. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart over the course of his military career which included service in the 101st Airborne. In retirement, he enjoyed a quiet life of avid reading, composing poetry and writing short stories. He adored all of his grandchildren and loved to shower them with gifts and praise whenever they visited. Christmas was his favorite Holiday. He taught every grandchild to play chess. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Bosco in Lakewood on Thursday, October 11th, 2012 at 10AM, with a small reception to follow. His interment will be held Thursday afternoon at Calvary Cemetery in Lakewood.
