Obituary Warren Franklyn McNeal, DDS November 24, 1926 ~ January 25, 2014 Warren McNeal, 87, died peacefully in his sleep. Born in Auburn, WA, he was the only child of Charles Franklyn and Virginia Brady McNeal. He lived a life defined by adventure, as an Eagle Scout, professional, father, sailor, and world traveler. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA. In college, Warren joined the Navy ROTC and studied at Gonzaga University before transferring to the University of Washington where he joined the ATO fraternity. He met another UW student, Jane Bishop, who shared his passion for life and they became lifelong Husky Fans! They married in 1949 just before his graduation from UW Dental School. Warren and Jane moved to Yakima in 1951 to start his practice and to raise their family. In 1961, Warren returned to the UW for a two-year program in Orthodontics and had a successful practice until his retirement. Always passionate about boating, he and Jane moored their sailboat, the "Desert Hawk", at Shilshoe Bay Marina for three decades. Upon retirement, they built a home in La Conner. Just as in Yakima, they made many dear friends and had fond memories of their time together. They loved exploring the NW waters, circumnavigating Vancouver Island, as well as chartering boats in foreign seas. Together, they traveled to every continent. Warren is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane; his four children, Charlie (Patty) McNeal, Sarah (Chuck) Kuhn, Peter (Janice) McNeal, and Joan (Gary) Peterson; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He leaves a rich legacy and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A special gratitude is extended to the warm and loving caregivers at the Weatherly Inn.
