Warren Barde

February 27, 1922 — December 14, 2017

Obituary Warren "Grumpa" Barde, Father, Grand Father, Great Grandfather, passed away in his home, December 14th in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 95. He was born in Portland, Oregon, on February 27, 1922, and moved to Seattle shortly thereafter. He graduated from Edison High School in Seattle and joined the Navy and served during WW II. He was trained as a medic and stationed overseas on the Island of Guam. Returning home, Warren enrolled at the University of Washington where he met his wife of 66 years, Adelyn Meier. They were married after a short courtship, and Warren then joined his father-in-law at Randy's Coin and Loan store in Tacoma. Warren and Addie raised three children in their North End home; Wendy, Glen and Ross. Warren was active in the community as a member of Temple Beth El, Tacoma Rotary 8, Tacoma Executive Association, Pierce County Numismatics organization, and also served as Sir Boss of the Daffodilians. Warren and Addie particularly enjoyed times spent with the "Daffy Diners," traveling around the world, and rooting for the University of Washington Huskies. Warren would like to be remembered as a person with a strong work ethic, having worked six days a week for over sixty years. He also took great pride in supporting organizations that enhanced the health and well being of children, including Temple Beth El youth programs, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and the Boys and Girls Club. Another cause close to his heart was the Audiology Department at the University of Washington Hospital. In his spare time Warren could be found passionately woodcarving in his shop. Warren is survived by his children: Wendy (Jay) Stricherz, Glen (Mary Jean) Barde, Ross (Karen) Barde, grandchildren; Jodi, (CW), Amy, Mackenzie (Kevin), Jordan, and seven great grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Warren's caregivers; Alana, Ann, Paula and Rena for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Warren's memory to the Temple Beth El Barde Fund, or to the Children's Audiology and Speech Department at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December17th, 2017, 2:00PM at Temple Beth El.
