Obituary WANDA ZAK LUCHINO Wanda Zak Luchino, 93, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died of natural causes on Wednesday, August 12th, 2009, with her family at her side. Wanda was born of Polish descent on November 19th, 1915, in PeEll, Washington. She graduated from PeEll High School and the next day left for Tacoma, Washington, where she worked for the Nalley Food Company. It was here that she met her future husband, Adrian Thomas Luchino. They had 71 wonderful years together and raised their family in the Pacific Northwest in the same homestead. Wanda was a self-employed beautician and copartner in property management projects. Her two most favorite things in life were dancing with her husband and gardening, both of which she did with great pizzazz and flair. She loved to surround herself with beauty, and created it where ever she could, with an eye for detail and excellence. She was a creative master in the kitchen, enjoyed reading, pinochle, ceramics and painting, razor clamming at their beach cabin, and hardly ever missed a Mariners game. Her voluntary service to her church and the community over several decades was extensive. Along with her husband and a handful of volunteers, she raised money to initiate the establishment of the Metro Park located at 44th and McKinley; she also worked to solicit funds and donated materials to establish a Boys Club for East Tacoma, which later became the United Way supported Eastside Boys and Girls Club. Wanda is survived by four of her five children: Gerald (deceased) and Alice Luchino of Annandale VA, Frederick and Judy Luchino of Lakewood, WA, Newell and Catherine Luchino Mitchell of Hilton Head Island, SC, Michael Luchino of Greenbrae, CA, and Gary and Rosemarie Luchino Nepper of Lakewood WA. Their families include 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 20th, 2009. Rosary begins at 9:30 am, Mass at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Parish at 4520 McKinley Avenue in Tacoma, WA 98404. Mass and Reception will follow with burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice, or the Sacred Heart Parish Altar Society, or the St. Joseph Medical Center Dialysis Unit, P.O.
