Obituary Walter Patrick McGough Mr. Twinkletoes Himself Walter Patrick Joseph McGough, died on April 20, 2007 at 10:28PM. He was 80 years and 3 months old. Wally was born in San Francisco, CA. His parents, Patrick and Mary McGough and his brother James precede him in death. Wally is survived by his sister, Peggy, 3 nieces, Pat Carroll, Colleen Spinelli, Erin Davis, 5 grand nieces and nephews, 2 great-grand nieces, his L'Arche Community in Tacoma and around the world. During WWII he served on the USS Comfort Ship. After an honorable discharge Wally served as a postal worker in San Francisco for 20 years. At the invitation of his niece Wally left his beloved San Francisco and moved to L'Arche Tahoma Hope in 1983. L'Arche became a true home where this weary Irishman could rest his heart. Wally was a founding core member of Tahoma Hope's activity program, Noah's Workshop. He wove rugs, watched old (romance) movies and played hours of Crazy 8's. Wally, a devoted Catholic and faithful friend, was a member of St. Leo's Parish. Prayer was at the heart of Wally's life. He prayed for friends and family members day and night. Another example of Wally's faithfulness was the many letters he wrote and the hearty welcome he extended to all. Once you entered his heart you never left. Though he did not have a competitive spirit he was feisty and fiercely independent. He loved Notre Dame Football, Storm basketball and Mariner baseball. In his earlier days Wally bowled in a league. Ladies surrounded this quiet man. He enjoyed dancing, skating, the symphony, and chocolate and was always game for a coffee outing as long as it included Irish Cream. Wally's Community would like to thank Multi-Care Hospice and his friend and physician Dr. Watrin. The vigil will be held on Sunday, April 22nd @7PM. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 23rd @12PM. Both services will be at St. Leo Catholic Church, 710 S. 13th St., Tacoma, Washington. On-line condolences can be sent to www.gaffneyfuneralhome.com. Donations can be made to L'Arche Tahoma Hope Community or Nativity House.
