Obituary Vivian Joyce Ahlstedt was born June 6th, 1926 in Spokane Washington and passed gently into the hands of her Lord on July 19th, 2017. Vivian was raised in Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark High School where she was the first female president of the senior class. This was Lewis and Clarks' 100th graduating class. Vivian married E.R. (Dick) Spencer on January 13th, 1947. They remained happily married for the next 56 years. Vivian and Dick had three children who survive her, Michael Spencer (Ami), Jacqueline Gillet, and Nancy Howard (Mike). Her sister Marjorie Davey, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by her father Roy K. Ahlstedt, son-in-law Bruce Gillett, and her husband Dick. Vivian loved everyone, always saw the best in others, and received much love in return. Vivian had a deep and abiding belief in her Lord. She was an active member at Epworth-LeSourd Methodist Church for over 60 years. Vivian was most proud of her dedicated work with others in restoring the beautiful stained glass windows at her beloved church. Vivian's warm heart, loving personality, and contagious "Ahlstedt Spencer smile" as she called it, will be missed by her family and those that were lucky enough to be part of her wonderful life. The family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care Vivian received from all of the staff at Merrill Gardens of Tacoma, The Garden House, and Franciscan Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or The Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County be a consideration. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
