Obituary Virginia Mitchell Virginia Mitchell passed away peacefully on December 3, 2013 at Tacoma General Hospital at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn, and Linda; grandchildren, Robert, Megan, and Stephanie; great-grandson, William; and her sister, Esther. Virginia grew up in Leavenworth, Washington where she met her husband. They eventually moved to Tacoma where they built their home and raised their family. She was from the greatest generation and was once a welder in the Seattle shipyards while her husband was serving his country in Alaska during WWII. Virginia loved her family dearly and will be sorely missed. We will always remember her smile, her quick wit and our greeting with each visit, "Are you hungry; would you like something to eat and a cup of coffee?" A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00am at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel, 1002 S.
