Virginia Joy Delyanis

Virginia Joy Delyanis, 69, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter of God, passed away June 4, 2022.  Virginia, the daughter of Morris and Donna Chambers, was born February 27,1953 in Yakima, Washington. As the daughter of a Navy man, Virginia lived in several towns across the United States, including Great Falls, Cheyenne, Mohall, Grand Forks, Colorado Springs, and Kent. In 1970 she married and moved to Whidbey Island where her daughter, Victoria, was born.  After graduating Nursing School in Maine in 1975, she moved back to Washington where she dedicated her life to caring for others. In 1983 she married George Delyanis and created a family of 5 with her daughter, Vicki, and George’s children, Peter and Annie.

During her medical career, she worked as a Neurosurgical Nurse, Critical Care RN, a National Sales Manager for Neurologics, a Patient Case Manager, and Hospital Administrator for Multi-Care.  In addition, she was instrumental in creating the Sleep Disorder Center at Multi-Care and organized and ran a support group for families of brain tumor patients.

Virginia was a loyal member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and loved serving God through the Church.

She is survived by her husband, George, and their three children, Victoria Chavis (Walter Jahn), Peter (Lianne) Delyanis and Annie Delyanis.  Her grandchildren were the lights of her life: Michael, Alexandra, Mikala, Nickolas, Gabrielle, and Arianna.  She is also survived by her younger brother, Richard Chambers (Ken Averett) and niece, Shauna.

She will forever be remembered as a nurturing, altruistic, generous and compassionate woman, known primarily for her dedication to helping others through her work and church.

The Funeral Mass for Virginia will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 17, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tacoma 1123 North J Street, followed by a lunch reception in the Church Hall.  A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
