Violet Jeanette Blondin

Violet (Walker) Blondin passed away May 18, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born on January 27, 1925 in Yakima, Washington. Violet married the love of her life Douglas C. Blondin on May 22, 1947 and they started their family the following year. By that time Douglas was in the U.S. Air Force and over the next 10 years the family was transferred to 5 different stations. A military wife often times faces the biggest challenges with each move, and Violet handled them all with a positive attitude and made them as seamless as possible for her family. They returned to McChord AFB in 1958, and Violet immediately began her volunteer work in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church community. Her many contributions included, helped in starting the grief ministry with husband Doug, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister delivering Holy Communion to the Tacoma Lutheran Home and other nursing facilities, picking up and delivering food to the Food Bank, and  working before and during numerous rummage sales, which she enjoyed immensely. She was a talented seamstress and made doll clothes, bears, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for her daughters and grandchildren. She also crocheted many blankets, booties and hats for newborns. Violet was always known for her kind, compassionate, and loving way.

Violet is survived by her three children, Ken Blondin, daughter Julie Hale (Jon) and Janice Vogele (Terry), grandchildren Ken Blondin Jr., Shane Blondin (Sarah), Amber Sooter (Aaron), Ryan Mayes, Quinn Hale, and Alivia Hale; and great grandchildren Mia Blondin, Jude Blondin, Kyle Sooter and Reid Sooter and Annalivia Mayes. Preceeding Violet in death was husband Douglas C. Blondin, grandson Aaron Mayes, Brother Lloyd Walker, and step-brothers Ted Cyr and Lawrence Cyr. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Wednesday June 1st and her inurnment will at 11:00 June 18th at Calvary Cemetery in Yakima, Washington.
