Obituary Viola was born in Zell, South Dakota on March 25, 1910 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family August 31, 2007. Preceded in death by husband Delbert, she was the last living member of her generation. She is survived by five children: David (Iris), John (Laurel), Arny (Marge), Chris (Joanne) and Claudia (Bob); 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. After a short career of teaching in a one room school house in South Dakota, Viola and her sister Mac, leaving their family behind, bravely drove 1500 miles through the mountains in a 1930 Ford Coupe to marry her longtime beau, Delbert. Her many gifts included hospitality, great Sunday dinners where all were welcome, strong faith, spirituality and dedication to her catholic faith and her family. Mom was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish and taught in the parish school for many years. Her most amazing gift was her phenomenal memory and total recall of people, places and events and this will be the thing we miss the most. In addition, the Mariners have lost a great fan. You are invited to join us in a celebration of her life. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, September 4, 2007, 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel, and Funeral Mass will be at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 11:00 am. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
