Obituary Vic was born March 11, 1924 in Yakima WA and passed peacefully in his sleep April 9, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Helen Martineau. He is survived by his son; Victor and wife Patricia "Trish? Martineau, his brother and best friend LaVerne and wife Holly Martineau. Vic attended Holy Rosary Grade School, Bellarmine Preparatory School and The College of Puget Sound (U.P.S.) Vic was in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He was a combat engineer with the Americal Division and saw combat in the Bougainville and Philippine campaigns. After the war, he joined the Tacoma Police Department but resigned after 6 years. He then went to work as a longshoreman where worked until retiring. Vic was a well known athlete in the Tacoma area. He signed with the Tacoma Tigers and pitched for the House of David Touring Baseball Team. One of his highlights during that period was pitching against Satchel Paige of the Kansas City Monarchs. He played two years of football with the C.P.S. Loggers. He also refereed collegiate and high school basketball for many years and was a great Husky fan. Vic is also survived by 2 step-granddaughters; Heidi (Hans) Hechtman and Heather (Christian) Trandum, 2 step-great grandchildren; Hunter and Jakob Hechtman. The family would like to give a special thank you to his special friend, Terry Mason, whose lifesaving efforts gave us five more years with Vic. He will be missed by many friends and especially a special group of friends. It will be a lonelier place without "Vanishing Vic?. At his request, there will not be a formal service but a celebration of his life will be held at C.I.
