Obituary Verna Longen (Chamma and Great Royal Grandma) Born to immigrants Steven Toth and Susan Bodner from Slovakia in Butte, Montana on April 23, 1913, Verna Cecilia Toth was the fifth of seven brothers and sisters. After arriving and settling in Tacoma, she attended Rogers, Gault and Lincoln Schools and was working at Northwest Bakery on Center Street when she met and fell in love with Marvin Longen. They married at St. Joseph's church on August 8, 1931 and had six children during their forty four years together. Verna was a kind, compassionate, loving soul who worked hard all her life and always put others first. She was a devout Catholic, a longtime member of St. Leo's Parish, a past president of the Young Ladies Institute, and a fabulous old school cook. Preceded in death by husband Marvin and her six brothers and sisters. She is survived be her six children, Eugene (Diana), Sherry, Susan, Michole (Donald), Rex (Kathy), Thomas (Theresa); fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. Greater love than this hath no man ... Vigil will be held at Gaffney Funeral Home at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 7, 2007; Funeral Mass at St. Leo's Church, Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 12:00 noon.
