Obituary VERA M. BUTLER Age 83, loving and cherished mother of eight children: Philip E. Butler Jr., Sandra Heatley, David (Liz) Butler, Betty Jean Butler, identical twins Karen Butler and Kathy Smith, Bryan (Teresa) Butler Sr. and Daniel Butler. Vera passed away surrounded by her loving eight children at her side on March 21, 2012. She also leaves her 22 beloved grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren of Tacoma. She retired from Pacific Northwest Bell in 1991 after 25 years of service. Upon her retirement, Vera lived half of the year with her husband Phil of 63 years in Yuma, Arizona, where they found great joy spending time with family and friends. Vera was known for her unconditional love, wit, and strength of a lion. People especially knew her for her passion of cooking fabulous meals in preparation for one of her marvelous parties. She would never want the people that knew and loved her to grieve; instead, she would want us to celebrate the love and joy she brought to this world. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched and will live on in our hearts forever. Vera was the greatest mom, grandma, aunt, and friend a family could ever want; we were truly blessed to have her in our lives. Her loving spirit will be in our hearts forever and all the wonderful memories will sustain us until we see her again. Preceded in death, Vera joins her husband Philip E. Butler Sr. and grandson Joshua Butler. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with a reception to follow. Vigil service will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 7:00 pm also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment at New Tacoma Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
