Obituary Theresa Ann (DePaul) Habgood  Theresa Ann (DePaul) Habgood Died peacefully on Aug 3, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way after a brief illness. She was born Jan 7, 1931 in "Little Italy" on the Hilltop of Tacoma where she was raised and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. On April 25, 1954, in Tacoma at St. Rita's Church, she married her "railroad man," Joe Habgood. She worked at Weyerhaeuser until the birth of her first child, and then became a homemaker whose prime focus was raising her three daughters. As Joe climbed the corporate ladder with the Union Pacific Railroad, they left her beloved Pacific Northwest and lived in Minneapolis, Portland, Omaha, and Boise, until they retired and moved back to the area where they settled in Federal Way in 1985. During their retirement years she loved RVing with their cousins, siblings, and children, and spending time in the RV in Las Vegas. When she wasn't on the road, she enjoyed activities with the St. Theresa's Catholic Church Senior Group and was very active in the Grief Ministry. Many, many potato salads made by her loving hands were consumed at funeral receptions. Theresa loved going to the casino, making and eating anything sweet, cooking Sunday dinner for anyone who would be there to eat it, all things Mickey Mouse, and the Mariners. She will have to watch Sweet Lou be inducted into the Mariners' Hall of Fame from heaven. The entire family will miss her special wedding cookies, Easter cookies, Christmas cookies, and most especially, her spaghetti sauce. She was surrounded by her family in her final hours, and is now reunited with her parents Dominic and Julia DePaul, and her older brothers Elmer and Lawrence (Nonie). She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joe; and daughters, Cathy Haworth (David), Cheryl, and Teri Jo. Grandchildren Jenn, Chris, and Becca comforted their Nana in death and brought immense joy to her in her life. To honor her life and commitment to the Grief Ministry, there will be a celebration of life at 12:30pm Aug. 22nd in St. Theresa's Catholic Church Parish Hall, 3939 SW 331st St., Federal Way, WA 98023. She loved to feed people, so please join us to eat and to celebrate her memory by laughing, telling stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
