Obituary THEODORE "TED" ABBOTT BORN: TACOMA APRIL 7, 1936 ?" OCTOBER 12, 2008 PUYALLUP HIGH 1956 Ted served in United States Army before returning to live in Tacoma. A dedicated family man, Ted was predeceased by his loving wife Joyce. He is survived by son David Chapman and wife Susan of Kent, daughter Connie Ladenburg and John of Tacoma and daughter Lori Abreu-Field and Raul of University Place. Also survived by sisters Barbara Pooley and Mary Lou Dietsch, along with brother Richard Abbott. Ted's extended family also includes eight nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews along with eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Ted was a longtime employee of Franco Fish Products in Tacoma. Ted was active in the community including the AMVETS, the VFW and the Eagles. His favorite, however, was the Lions Clubs. Ted Abbott joined Lions Clubs International and the Tacoma Lincoln Lions Club in 1980. He served as Club President, 1st Vice President, and Club Treasurer, and on the Board of Directors. Ted transferred to Tacoma South Lions Club and was Zone Chairman in 1991-92. When the Tacoma South Lions Club closed, Ted moved to the Tacoma Southeast Lions Club. He was very active in the club including the fireworks fund raiser sales and the annual Potato Bake in which he loved to be a mainstay in the kitchen. Ted received recognition from Lions Clubs International for twenty-five years of ‘Outstanding Service'. Ted was the epitome of the Lions motto "WE SERVE". Funeral Service will be at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 am.
