Obituary Sylvia Forster Sylvia F. Forster died peacefully among family and friends on August 21, 2007. She was born to Augustus and Theresa Forgues on July 16, 1916 in Centralia, Washington. She graduated from Seattle's Holy Names Academy in 1933. A longtime Tacoma resident, Sylvia married her husband Charles on Christmas Day 1944. They had two children, Suzi and Charles, Jr. A devout Catholic, after moving from Seattle to Tacoma, Sylvia became an active member of Holy Cross Parish. She was involved in the Catholic Woman's Club and the Altar Society. Sylvia's love and concern for her children led her to take a leadership role in many events at the Parish School, as well as Cub Scouts and Brownies. With a strong love for plants and gardening, Sylvia became a member of the Grapevine Garden Club for which she was a three-term president. Sylvia loved playing bridge with the "Bridge Group", visiting the Rose Garden at Point Defiance Park, walking on the waterfront, traveling to family property on Hood Canal, painting, museums, cooking for her family, and gardening around her home. And, later in life, a glass of crème sherry before dinner. Most importantly, Sylvia dearly loved her husband Charles and her children. She was forever devoted to their care and support. Sylvia truly put her family first. Preceded in death by Charles, she is survived by her children Suzi Smith and Charles (Chuck) Jr., sister Barbara Rourke, and 3 grandchildren Jennifer, Joshua, Nathan and her great grandson Kale. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 , 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 27, 2007, 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel.
