Obituary Stessi Jeanette (Rome) Boyd, 74, passed away on June 24, 2012. She was born April 21, 1938, in Tacoma, to Ben and Freida Rome. Stessi grew up in Fircrest, with families that have remained connected for a lifetime. She also had lifelong friends from Stadium High Class of 1956. Stessi studied at the U of WA, and later lived in Anchorage, San Francisco, and New York City. She settled in her hometown, where she honed her craft as a master hairdresser and beautician. An entrepreneur, Stessi owned a beauty shop, two restaurants (The Titlow Beach Lunch & Grocery and the Vienna Café), and several rental properties. Stessi volunteered at the Tacoma Visitor Bureau and the WA State History Museum, and was a member of Temple Beth El. Stessi was an enthusiastic performer. She loved to sing, play the piano, and dance West Coast Swing. Stessi was a magical entertainer; she delighted, and yes, sometimes even shocked her vast network of fans! Seven years ago she met the love of her life, Bill Herzog, and spent many treasured moments with him, listening to jazz and dining with dear friends around Tacoma. Stessi loved being with friends and family, and was especially proud of her kids and grandkids. She is survived by her sister Marsha Miller (Lee), brother David Rome (Ann Marie), son Brian Boyd, daughter, Judy Seidlin, and grandchildren, Benjamin and Lillian Seidlin-Gore, Elsa and Isak Boyd. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Home of Peace Cemetery at 11:00 am, followed by a reception at Temple Beth El. Donations in Stessi's memory may be given to Catholic Community Services or a charity of your choice.
