Stanton “Stan” Schack passed away peacefully in his home on March 28, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born in 1930 in Iowa, grew up in Minneapolis until moving to the Pacific Northwest as a teen with his parents John and Louella who were employed in the War effort. He was a graduate of Fife High School and attended the College of Puget Sound. He married Maryanne Thomas of Tacoma in 1951, where they lived their lives and raised 4 children. He was a long-time roofing foreman for George Thomas and Son Roofing and later worked for Pyrodyne Corporation as head of the warehouse. They were founding members of St. Charles Borromeo Parish and active members until their deaths. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, and daughter Kimberly Feldhaus. He is survived by his daughter Wendy Sleisher, his sons Michael Schack and Jeffrey Schack, his grandsons Jake and Ben Schack, granddaughter Claire Sleisher, and great-grandsons Thomas and Charles Schack. Dad will be known for his practical jokes, extremely hard worker, and his never-complaining devotion to his family and Church, particularly for his wife who was confined to a wheelchair for the last 17 years of her life.
Stan was dedicated to praying and working for the unborn. He prayed every week for 40 years in front of abortion clinics. Anyone who would like to honor Stan, a free will offering to Pregnancy Aid of Tacoma or any other right to life charity would be appreciated.
