Obituary Stanley Albert Wojtanowicz, Jr. Stan passed away the morning of February 25, 2010 at the age of 79 after a short battle with cancer. On June 23, 1930 he was born to Stanley and Rose Wojtanowicz in St. Paul, Minnesota. His family later moved to Tacoma, Washington, and he joined the U.S. Army in 1950. During his 8 years of service, he received the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze service star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan). Stan then went to work for the Carpenters Union 1144 in Tacoma. He also received his 50-year pin from the union. He retired in the early 1990's. He married Emily Hagen in 1962. He was a loving father to 3 daughters. Emily passed away in August of 1996. In his spare time he liked to work in the yard and also enjoyed going to Hawaii with his special friend. He had a huge love for dogs, especially his Chi-pom, Peanut, who was always with him. He is survived by his special friend and longtime companion Sam McDowell, daughters Robin Pryor (Damon), Tami Doenges (Tom), Kellie Moody (Tyree), and his grandson Christopher, to whom he was more like a father, as well as grandchildren Amber, Tre', Styles and Levi. He is also survived by 3 sisters, 1 brother, and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Emily Wojtanowicz, and grandson Tyree James Moody Jr. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 10am to 6pm at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, 1002 S. Yakima, and the Rosary will follow at 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 9am. A procession to Calvary Cemetery and a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send potted plants.
