Sr. Anne Philomena Charles, Osf

Obituary Sister Anne Philomena Charles, OSF (Sister Philomena Marie) Sister Anne P. Charles died on December 5, 2015 at St. Ann Convent, Tacoma, where she resided since 1994. She has been a member of the Sisters of St. Francis for the past 63 years and participated actively in the prayer ministry of the congregation. Prior to her retirement, Sister Anne ministered as a pharmacist at several Franciscan Hospitals on both the East Coast and in Tacoma at St. Joseph Medical Center. She graduated from Fordham School of Pharmacy and was active in several professional organizations including the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Sister Anne was born in Aughavas, County Leitrim, Ireland and retained a strong interest in her Irish culture throughout her life. She had an enduring love of God's creation, true to Franciscan spirituality, and she spent many hours outdoors in recent years absorbing nature's beauty. She is survived by her twin brother, Christopher Charles, Baltimore; sister, Mary Charles, Edmonds, WA; brother, John Charles, England; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, December 16, 2015 at St Ann Convent, 6602 South Alaska St. Tacoma, WA 98408. A vigil service will be at St. Ann Convent on December 15, 2015 at 6:00 PM. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 6602 South Alaska St. Tacoma, WA 98408.
