Obituary Sister Mildred Kindall, OP Sister Mildred Kindall, OP (Sister Mary Vincent) died peacefully October 12 at Saint Joseph Residence in Seattle. Sister Mildred, "Millie," was born August 27, 1923 in Seattle where she attended both grade and high school at Holy Rosary in West Seattle. She entered the Tacoma Dominicans at Marymount and made Religious Profession in 1945. Her degrees in Education and Latin prepared her well for many years of teaching at both elementary and secondary levels , including Aquinas Academy, Tacoma; Blanchet High School, Seattle; and Garces Memorial High School In Bakersfield. After her successful career as teacher, she utilized secretarial skills at Blanchet and at Providence Hospital in Seattle. In 2000 she moved to the Franciscan Apartments in Burien and, in 2004, to Saint Joseph Residence where she loved to discuss world events and politics and to solve difficult crossword puzzles. Her later years saw ministry limited to prayer and suffering. She was privileged to celebrate her Jubilee, her 70th Anniversary of Profession, quietly at Saint Joseph Residence in June of this year. Her life witnessed fidelity, dedication, and service. Millie possessed a keen wit and delighted in good conversation. She possessed excellent writing skills and for several years assisted Community Administration by proof-reading Community publications. She enjoyed word plays and, perhaps as a result of her study of Latin, insisted on precision and correct usage. She disliked wordiness and once gave another Sister a small plaque that stated, "Eschew Obfuscation." She was an excellent teacher, who supported and encouraged younger colleagues. Sister Mildred was pre-deceased by her parents, Edwin and Mary (Schwepker) Kindall, her brother Edward, and her sisters, Sister Mary Bernadette OP (Margaret), Mary Genevieve Mercer and Martha Barton. She is survived by her brother Father John J. Kindall, SJ, of Los Gatos, CA, as well, as many nephews and nieces. Services will be at St. Joseph Residence (4800 37th Ave. SW, Seattle).
