Obituary Sister Kathleen Anne Carroll 1928-2010 Sister Kathleen Anne Carroll, a Professed Sister of St. Francis of Philadelphia, lived a faithful Franciscan life since her first profession of vows in 1947. She was born in County Kildare, Ireland in 1928, and came to the United States in 1946. As a teacher she enriched the lives of many students. She taught in California, Oregon and Washington. Locally Sister was on the faculty of St. Leo School in Tacoma and Our Lady of Lourdes in Seattle. She loved learning and was always current in her teaching skills. She attended Seattle University, and was awarded both her Bachelors and Master Degree in Education from the University. Her Irish charm and dignity was always very attractive to those she met. In her later years she had extensive correspondence with her many friends and students. She loved sharing poetry and drama with others. Sister was devoted to prayer and guided others in their spiritual journey. She was creative in arts and crafts and frequently surprised other with gifts she had made herself. After many years of teaching, she made Tacoma her home. First ministering as an activity director at St. Ann Convent, and later becoming a resident at the convent and entering into full time prayer ministry. Sr. Kathleen is survived by many nieces and nephews who reside in England and Ireland, and by her Franciscan Sisters. The Sisters of St. Francis would like to thank Robert Wilson MD for his medical care of Sister Kathleen, and the staff of St. Ann Convent for their loving care of her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Convent on Friday September 24, 2010 at 11:00AM. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
