Sister Mary Carmel Farrell

Obituary SISTER MARY CARMEL FARRELL, OP Sister Mary Carmel Farrell, OP (Mary Kathleen) died peacefully surrounded by her sisters at St. Joseph Residence, Seattle, on February 20, 2009. She was born November 22, 1918 in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, Ireland. She entered the Dominican Sisters of Tacoma on July 16, 1951 and made her first profession on January 17, 1953. She received her BA and teaching certificate from Fort Wright College, Spokane, WA and did further studies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Prior to entering the Dominican Sisters in Tacoma, she trained as a nurse in Ireland and completed her training at the Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend, Kansas where she received her nursing cap.
