Simon Jerome Rose

Obituary Simon Jerome Rose "Si" Si was born December 16, 1921 at St. Joseph Hospital and Died July 27, 2011 at his home in Tacoma. A lifetime Tacoma resident he graduated from Stadium High School. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corp, 119th Gun Battalion for 3 ½ years where he also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Si returned home and 2 months later married his wife Florence at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco on Feb. 17, 1946. He was an active member of Temple Beth El. Si was a one of a kind, a true gentleman, a wonderful mind and great concern for others. He never let anyone down. Si was a true sports fan, and a great storyteller he was often asked to MC different events. Si also had a great sense of humor his favorite quote when talking to a sick friend on the phone was to ask "are you eating everything you should, Eat good." Si was concerned that you should eat good and after 65 years still enjoyed Flo's cooking. Si is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence, a son Edward, a granddaughter Leah and numerous nieces and nephews who were always a great help to him. He was preceded in death by his son Bernie in 1996. Graveside services will be held Today, Friday, July 29, 2011, 11:00 am Home of Peace Cemetery.
