Shirley Anne Mccarthy

Obituary Shirley McCarthy passed into eternal peace on August 26, 2017. She was born on July 26, 1927 in Ellensburg, Washington to Stephen and Anna Vernon as their fifth of seven children. After the family moved to Seattle, Shirley attended and graduated from Holy Names Academy. She met and married Leonard McCarthy in 1948 and moved to Tacoma where they had their three children; Cindy, Leonard Jr, and Bill. Shirley never met a stranger and a stranger never forgot meeting her. She was a special and favorite relative, friend, neighbor, co-worker and acquaintance. Laughter and joy in life defined her and endeared her to all. Shirley is survived by her children; Cindy McGrath and Bill McCarthy, her brother; Hugo Vernon, four grandchildren; Keith Foster, Scott Foster, Brandy McCarthy and Amber Bos, and six great-grandchildren; Randy Foster, Kelliann Foster, Hailey McCarthy, Jordan McCarthy, Sophia Foster and Rowan Foster, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. A special note of remembrance goes to the Leo Ceccanti Family and their love for and acceptance of Shirley into their lives. Private services will be held.
