Sharon Higgins

Obituary Sharon Lynn Higgins Sharon Lynn Higgins, 67, died on March 11, 2015 in Tacoma. She was born on July 13, 1947 in San Diego, California, and grew up in Rochester, N.Y. Sharon met her husband John while studying German at the Freie University in Berlin, Germany in 1970. After graduating with a masters degree in German from UCLA in 1972, she and John were married on August 26, 1972. Sharon taught English, German and Washington State history at Lincoln and Foss High Schools for 33 years finally retiring in 2011. She felt a strong call to social service and became the Alpha Tau Chapter president of the teacher's service sorority Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling, photography, camping and gardening. Sharon is survived by her husband, John, son, Matthew, daughter, Chelsea Lindquist (Mark), and her daughter-in-law Reona Dredd as well as two sisters Lorraine Schryver and Sandy Zak. Her son Daniel preceded her in death. She had four granddaughters: Kaliana, Karina, Kayden and Malina. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Leo's Church in Tacoma on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 12:10 pm., Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
