Sara Elizabeth (Hanson) Grochowicz

Obituary Sara was born, December 24, 1974, in Ft. Dodge Iowa, to Dennis Hanson and Susan (Keely) Hanson. She died on August 31, 2016, following a 22-month battle with pancreatic cancer. At the age of 11 months, Sara and her mother moved to Tacoma, where she remained the rest of her life. She attended McCarver Elementary, Hunt Middle School and graduated from Bellarmine. She graduated from PLU in 1999, with a degree in chemistry. At the time of her death, Sara was manager of quality control for Metagenics Vitamin Supplements. She is survived by her loving husband, Patrick; children, Keely, Hunter and Ava; her mother, Sue Keely (Tony Jones); aunts and uncles, Rick Keely (Mariann Neville), Barbara Anne Keely, Skip and Sharman Keely, Tim and Cheryl Strandberg of Iowa and Priscilla Kruse of Minnesota; cousins, Jesse and Amelia Keely, Griffin Keely, and several cousins in Iowa. She also leaves behind many friends. She is predeceased by her father, Dennis Hanson; and her grandparents, Jerry and Sally Keely, and Harris and Lois Hanson. Sara was active in Rainbow International Order for Girls, representing them as Worthy Advisor, Grand Chaplain for the State of Washington, and Grand Representative to California. She was also very active in synchronized swimming, including reaching Nationals. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Tacoma.
