Obituary Sandra Jean Sassor Todd, 68, died Friday May 13, 2011, at 10:50am with her husband Walter Todd by her side with her children, Patrick and Stacey, close by in the house, in University Place, WA. She was born July 23, 1942, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Oliver Sassor and Lillian Hummel Sassor Martin. She and her family resided in Anoka, Minnesota and she graduated from Anoka High School in 1960. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper at a utility company and a bank before joining Northwest Airlines and working as a Stewardess. Originally based in Minneapolis and later transferring and residing in the Seattle area, she traveled extensively to Europe, Mexico and the Orient. She met Walter Todd at the Fort Lewis Officers Beach Club and subsequently they were married and were together for more than 41 years. During that time they resided in Tacoma, and University Place, WA, and a brief stay for about four years in the Fort Worth, TX area. She spent a total of 13 years working for Northwest airlines until 1977 when she gave birth to her son Patrick and daughter Stacey on the same day one year later, having ‘Irish twins'. At this point, she became a full time homemaker while her husband worked for the US Army and the General Services Administration in Auburn, WA. Her interests included family, pets, gardening, traveling, snowmobiling, crafting, reading, baking, coffee, video games and garage/estate sales. While her children were finishing up high school she started working with her high school best friend Mary Anne Von Ende. This led her to her next job at Gourmet Essentials, a kitchen specialty store where she worked for the next 12 years before retiring in 2008. This job was a great social outlet for her ‘empty nest' as she met many great friends working there including her best friend Terry Wong. Sandra is survived by her husband Walter, son Patrick, daughter Stacey, dogs Nikko and Burney, her brother David Trugman his wife, their three children, many sister-in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces and nephews'. A wake is scheduled for Monday May 16th from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, WA. A viewing, Funeral and Lutheran church services will be at First Lutheran Church, in Tacoma, WA, May 17 beginning at 10:00am with the viewing followed by an 11:00am service.
