Obituary Rose Aversa, loving wife and mother, passed away on March 1, 2011, at the age of 87. One of five children, Rose was born August 16, 1923, to Alfonse and Marie Cirillo in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Baltimore, MD, at the age of nine. Rose met her husband, Joe, in a 5 and 10-cent store and they were married in April 1947. They had one daughter, Rosemarie, who has always been the joy of their lives. In 1992, Rose and Joe moved to Tacoma, WA, to be closer to their daughter and her family. Rose always enjoyed bowling, bingo, poker, and puzzle books. She was a wonderful Italian cook and loved her time in the kitchen; preparing the meal was an all-day project and a true labor of love. Needless to say, we always looked forward to dinner at her house, especially the leftovers she provided for another night's meal. Rose also enjoyed singing with her husband, especially the Broadway show tunes and the old favorites from her youth. Rose is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Joe; daughter Rosemarie and her husband, Michael; and granddaughter, Jennifer. She is also survived by two sisters, Lillian Corrao and Carmela Cirillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Alcarese, and her brother, Alfred Cirillo. Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Viewing at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th, at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S. Yakima Ave., Tacoma. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 7th, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7112 S. 12th St., Tacoma. Burial will follow at New Tacoma Cemetery. Donations can be made in Rose's name to The American Cancer Society.
