Obituary Robert Lewis Riegel "Slid into homeplate safely" on November 30, 2008. Bob was born on October 2, 1938 in Yakima, WA. Bob graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, WA. He attended Seattle Pacific College (SPU) on a Baseball Scholarship and received a Bachelors Degree in Education. After graduating, Bob enlisted in the Army for 4 years. In 1967, Bob was hired by Tacoma School District and taught at Downing Elementary for 33 years. Bob was a teacher on the baseball field as well. He coached and umpired baseball for a combined 30 years. Bob was preceded in death by his son Bret, parents Gilbert and Cora, and his brother, Chuck. Bob is survived by his daughter Kelley (mother Lynn), special friend of 18 years Carol Evans, her daughters Joan (Robert), Beth (Eamon), and Carol's 4 grandchildren, his brother Wes (Fran), sister Betty, sister-in-law Kay (Brad), and numerous other family. Special thanks to Dr. Oliveira and staff, the St. Joseph's nurses on 10A, and finally to his feline caregivers Ella and Max.
