Obituary Robert E. Moriarty 1/6/30 - 10/13/11 Bob was born to James and Ella Moriarty in Great Falls, MT. He was the third of eight children, of whom three survived: Nancy Malaspina (Hillsborough, CA), Marcia (Montara, CA), and Patrick (Missoula, MT). Bob attended schools in Great Falls where he was active in athletics, while assisting in the operation of the family wheat ranch. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1951 with a degree in architecture, then served as an instructor at the Army Engineer School in Ft. Belvoir, VA. Bob and Joyce Keenan were married in 1953. Bob is survived by Joyce, and six children: Kevin (Tacoma), Sean (Concord, CA), Duff (Graham), Casey (Ramona, CA), Conan (Tacoma), and Margaret (Lake Havasu City, AZ). A son, Timothy, died an infant. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Bob was a member of architectural firms in Montana, California, Seattle, and Tacoma. He was an Officer of Conifer, which built several thousand housing units for low income and elderly. In 1974, he joined Weyerhauser and retired in 1998 as a Special Projects Director. During his professional career, he participated in projects in 22 states and 14 countries. In the past, he was a member of the American Institute of Architects, Tacoma Board of Adjustments, sat on the Boards of St. Ann's Home and St. Vincent de Paul, and was a member of Bellarmine Advisors. A private funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. An open reception will be in the St. Patrick Parish Hall at 12:30 pm.
