Robert Patrick Magee, Jr.

January 20, 1948 — November 30, 2009

Obituary Robert Patrick Magee, Jr. (Bob) was born on January 20th, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He met his wife Marie in Ocean City, NJ and married her on July 14th, 1972. He and Marie raised two wonderful daughters, Kathleen and Alicia. Bob passed away on November 30th with Marie and his daughters by his side. Bob was a ship guy. As a ship guy, he gave 8 years of his young adulthood to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, class of 1969, and owned nothing but a shoebox of personal items and a strong desire to "square the corners." He subsequently received his MBA from Widener University in Chester, PA. He followed his dream as a ship guy to jobs in Philadelphia, Puerto Rico, and Seattle with other ports of call in-between. As Chairman and CEO of American Shipping Group, Bob received numerous maritime awards while giving all the credit to his employees. Bob also gave generously of his time and money, sitting on the advisory boards for USMMA Kings Point, United Way of Pierce County, and being involved in many other clubs and associations. For all of his professional accomplishments, Bob was first and foremost a family guy. His family and friends will remember his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Whether it was spending time with friends and family at the "shore" in Ocean City, armchair managing the Phillies and the Eagles, or playing the mad scientist with his home chemistry set, Bob enjoyed life with a passion. Bob is survived by his parents Robert and Kathleen, brother Kevin, sisters Kathleen and Diane, his wife Marie, and daughters Kathleen and Alicia. He will be sorely missed. The funeral will be held at St. Augustine's Church, Ocean City, NJ. A memorial mass will be held at St. Theresa's Church, 3939 S.W. 331st Street, Federal Way 98023 on December 14th at 5:00 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, 825 Eastlake Avenue E., Seattle, WA 98109.
