Obituary Richard Luettgen, beloved brother, uncle and cousin, loved by many for his selfless, compassionate acts of kindness, left this world on December 1, 2018. Born in Olympia on May 1, 1955, of Edward and Elsie Luettgen, he spent his early life in the Tacoma/Fircrest area and graduated from Wilson High School ('72) after studying abroad for several years in Spain while his mother obtained her Masters degree. After attending Occidental College in Los Angeles, he traveled to New York City, where he held business process positions in the area over the next forty years at Seaman's Bank, Charles of the Ritz, Coopers & Lybrand and his own consulting company, ThoughtWing, LLP and where he married Robin Sojcher, his former wife of 25 years. He enjoyed debating politics and world events and was an avid commenter to the New York Times, being named in 2015 as one of its most influential internet contributors. He retired to Tacoma in 2017, where he enjoyed visiting with family and helping others. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Robbins, his brother, Robert Luettgen and sister-in-law, Julie, and many nephews/grandnephews, nieces/grandnieces and cousins. A celebration of life is planned for Richard starting at 1 pm on January 12, 2019 at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S Yakima Ave, Tacoma, WA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National Stroke Association. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
