Richard August Costanti

April 17, 1939 — July 16, 2017

Obituary Richard August Costanti, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, July 16th, from complications of Lymphoma. Richard was born on April 17, 1939 in Tacoma, Washington, to Louis and Amelia Costanti. He graduated from Bellarmine High School where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. He married Doreen Spatafore in 1967 and had two children. After serving his country in the Army, he followed in his father's profession, the beer and wine distribution business, in the local area. He was a proud supporter of both the St. Charles and Bellarmine Booster organizations. His greatest passions in life were growing prize tomatoes and basil, and spending sunny days at his Fox Island beach house; but, mostly, for being an incredibly dedicated grandfather to seven grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen, of 49 years, his son Richard (Shannon), daughter Karen (James Smith), grandchildren: Spencer, Drazen, Braiden, Dominic, Jack, Sarah, and Nikki, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many of us will miss seeing Rich driving in Tacoma with his red-framed glasses propped up on his forehead on his way to Pao's for a doughnut. A Funeral Mass will celebrate his life on Monday, July 24th, at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Tacoma, followed by inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St. Charles Borromeo School. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
