Obituary René A. LeVitre passed away on Tuesday, April 24 due to complications following surgery. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family. René was born on October 31, 1922 to Aloysius and Angelique (Crochet) LeVitre in Fargo, North Dakota. A few years later the family moved to West Seattle, where René attended E.C. Hughes Grade School. He lettered in basketball and baseball at West Seattle High School and graduated in 1941. René served in the Navy in the Pacific during WW II. In 1947, he began what became a career of nearly forty years with the Coca-Cola Company in Seattle. He became the Sales Manager in Seattle, and finally retired as a Senior Vice President in 1987. René is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary (Duffy) LeVitre, and three children: Rear Admiral Rosanne M. LeVitre, U.S. Navy (retired) and her husband, Lars Hanson of Vienna, VA; Diane (LeVitre) Higgins and her husband Leroy Higgins of Newark, CA; and Michael LeVitre of Washington, D.C. René is also survived by his sister, Yvonne (LeVitre) Reed of Gig Harbor. He leaves two grandchildren: Rob Higgins and his wife Lindsay of Houston, TX and Kevin Higgins of Reno, NV. Donations, if desired, may be made to the MultiCare Health Foundation or the St. Charles Borromeo Grade School. There will be a viewing at the Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Memorial services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Tacoma at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2007. Interment at Tahoma National Cemetery
