Raymond Edward Reding

December 7, 1931 — January 10, 2019

Obituary Raymond Edward Reding passed away, January 10th, 2019 at the age of 87. Born to Frank and Anna Reding, December 7th, 1931 in Tacoma Washington. Ray had two sisters and three brothers. He attended Bellarmine Prep high school and then joined the Navy. After his service with the Navy he worked building Lady Clipper boats and studied engineering at St. Martin's College. He worked and retired from being an Engineer/Technician for the city of Tacoma. Ray married Virginia Audrey Hmura, June 1st, 1957 and shared the last 61 years together side by side. Ray is father to James, Judith, Mark, and Steven. Over time Ray and Virginia became grandparents to 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In life, Ray was always pleasant to talk with and share stories. You could always find him supporting the Tacoma community by helping the boy scouts with their 50 mile hikes, church activities and enjoying local sports teams. Ray also enjoyed the great outdoors. Whether he was boating, water skiing, fishing, hiking, camping, reading, gardening, dancing or singing he always had a smile on his face. When asked to describe Ray it was easy to understand the type of man he was. Stable, strong, social, active, consistent, caring, and resilient were the words that stand out and represent the man Raymond Reding was. Ray is survived by his wife Virginia Reding, his sister Mary Ann Huff, his two sons, Jim and Steven, his daughter Judy, and all 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
