Raymond Stanley Ozanich

November 5, 1935 — January 20, 2017

Obituary This man of strong faith and family values was called home to God on the morning of January 20, 2017. Ray, the son of Stanley and Alice (Rotika) Ozanich, was born November 5, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington. He attended Fife, Sherman & Mason Schools and was a 1953 graduate of Bellarmine. While growing up, many wonderful memories were created centering on fun, music and food with his large Croatian family from which he learned and played accordion. In 1955, Ray married Dorothy Keller in Visitation church. In 1956, they welcomed their son, Raymond Patrick. Soon they had a daughter, Sandra, followed by daughter Cindy. Ray spent most of his life in the insurance industry. In 1966 he and Dorothy started Ozanich Insurance Brokers and together they created an agency still in operation today and ran by Ray, Jr. and Cindy. Never a man to be idle, he coached sports, hunted, fished, enjoyed years of boating on his "Proud Yankee" and "Evening Star" with Totem Yacht Club, ventured on 37 large boat cruises and was a master at many card games. The St. Martin of Tours parish family enjoyed numerous yearly social events under his leadership; his favorite being "Oktoberfest" with Andy Mirkovich and his musical group. Ray was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2000, his daughter Sandy Demere in 2010 and grandson, Raymond Kenneth Ozanich in 2011. In 2001, Ray met Pat/Patty (Bevegni) Klos and a new beginning blossomed for both of them. Together they created a welcoming home, traveled often, found new and fun adventures but always cherished returning home to the warmth of family and many wonderful/special friends! Ray is survived by wife, Patty; son, Ray (Barbara); daughter, Cindy (Jon) Bohren; son-n-law, Rick Demere; grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Durbin, Erin Demere, Matt (Sevy) Demere, Jeffrey (Tabitha) Bohren, Jaclyne Bohren and Jacob Bohren; eight great-grandchildren plus step-son Brad (Elisabeth) Klos and grandchildren, Lila and Benjamin. He also leaves his sister, Nancy Combs and loving nephews and nieces.
