Raymond E. Miller

April 20, 1925 — December 19, 2008

Obituary RAYMOND E. "PAPA" MILLER Raymond E. Miller passed away suddenly on December 19, 2008 at his home in Tacoma. Ray was born in Tacoma on April 28, 1935 to William P. and Ethel Miller. He graduated from Stadium High School in 1953 and went on to proudly serve in the U.S.A.F. before marrying the love of his life Mary in 1962. They had just celebrated 46 wonderful years together. Ray retired after 22 years as a store manager for Lucky Stores so he and Mary could pursue their dream of owning their own business. They owned and operated the Big "E" Nursery in Bonney Lake for 20+ years before retiring again to spend more time with their children and grandchildren. "Papa" will be remembered most for his selfless devotion to his family and friends that he loved so much. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Bill Miller (Leslie); daughter Joan Farmer (Brad); the four lights of his life, granddaughters Melanie, Maddy, Andrea and Abby; sister Marie Buckley (Vernon); sister Sharon Clark (Mike); sister Carol Heath (Jerry); brother David Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A celebration of Ray's life will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. At Ray's request please dress casually. In lieu of flowers, Ray would love for you to make donations to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital or Habitat for Humanity/Pierce County.
