Obituary Raymond George Beuning Ray Beuning passed away November 4, 2009 after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Ray was born September 22, 1926 in Millwood Township Stearns County Minnesota to Joe and Mary Beuning. He graduated from Melrose (Mn) High School and then earned an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota. He initially went to work for Western Electric of St. Paul, Mn where he met his wife of 59 years, Arlene (Rehome). He also worked briefly for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing and served a short stint in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. In 1950 he accepted a position with Weyerhaeuser, a partnership that would last 33 years and bring him to Tacoma in 1960 and again in 1971 after stops in Toronto and Chicago. Following his retirement from Weyerhaeuser he spent nine years with Puget Sound National Bank. Ray was an accomplished bowler and spent much of his free time over the past four decades at Tower Lanes, Frontier Lanes or the Narrows Plaza Bowl. When not busy on the lanes he could be found in his garden tending to his roses or tomato plants. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary, sister Erma, brothers Ralph and Alphonse and infant son Gregory. He also leaves behind a large legacy. In addition to his wife Arlene, he is survived by 11 children; Dennis (Monika) Beuning of Keswick, Ontario Canada, Charles (Elaine) Beuning of Crystal Lake, Il., Francis (Ivy) Beuning of Algonquin, Il., Mary Ellen Beuning of University Place, David (Rene) Beuning of Tacoma, Diane Steffens of Tacoma, Kevin Beuning of Tacoma, Janice McDonald of Tacoma, Thom (Chris) Beuning of University Place, Debbie (Andy) Osborn of Lacey, Donna Barker of University Place, 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Monday, November 9, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5510 N. 44th St in Tacoma. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Please make memorial donations to the Holy Cross Building Fund.
