Ramona Ethel Brady

Obituary Ramona Ethel Brady Beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born on December 21, 1923 in Timber Lake, South Dakota, to Rolland and Gertrude Quinn, as the second of five children. When she was ten, the Dust Bowl drove her family to abandon their farm and move to Washington State. She graduated from Lynden High School, learned stenography and typing at business college, and worked as a book keeper at Griggs office supplies. Always generous and hardworking, Ramona used her first paycheck to replace her mother's wood stove with an electric model and helped her parents start Quinn's Corner Store. She studied at Seattle University and met her husband, James (Jim) Joseph Brady, on a blind date at the Seattle Fireman's ball. They were married on September 13, 1952, in Lynden, Washington. Family and God were her whole life. Ramona loved to dance and always sought ways to support her loved ones. She took in and cared for her aging mother and raised seven successful children. She has been an active member of Holy Cross parish for almost 50 years. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Brice, Dale and Thomas. She is survived by her sister Donna Scavato; husband of 61 years, Jim Brady; children, Joseph Brady, Seattle, Joan Brady, Tacoma, Diane Brady, Seattle, James Brady, Austin, Peggy Brady, Portland, John Brady, Santa Fe, and Jeff Brady, Tacoma; 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Holy Cross in Tacoma on Saturday, December 14, at 11 am. The rosary will be before the funeral starting at 10:45. Reception will follow at Holy Cross Hall.
