Peter R. Titland

Obituary Fr. Peter R. Titland, S.J. Fr. Peter R. Titland, S.J. was born February 20, 1939 in Seattle, and passed away May 15, 2015 in Tacoma. Fr. Titland entered the Jesuits in the Oregon Province where he did much of his formation, but his heart was for work in Africa. He ministered 45 years in Zambia and Malawi as a teacher, parish priest, spiritual director, and a national chaplain for the Christian Life Community and the University of Zambia. Fr. Titland worked with the Jesuit Refugee Service, and was the Director of Novices for the Zambia-Malawi Province Jesuits. In his long and distinguished career Fr. Titland was much loved and respected. His contributions to the people of Zambia and Malawi were great, but small in comparison to the love, generosity of spirit, and life he received from them. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Rita Church in Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Society of Jesus Oregon Province Senior Fund.
