Peter Lawrence Sabutis

Obituary Peter L. Sabutis 11/30-1918 - 10/18/2011 Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Elizabeth (Rask) Sabutis, and his stepdaughter, Sister Maria Francis. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Rask of Bothell, sister-in-law, Dolores (Schiesz) Rask, and nephews, Jeffrey, Dennis, Martin and Michael Rask. Pete graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He saw action in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands, and received 2 Bronze Stars and The Purple Heart. Pete was a talented artist and a master woodcarver. He played for the Tacoma Tigers Professional Baseball Team, and was one of the best left-handed pitchers in the Pierce County area. He was inducted in to the Tacoma Pierce County Hall of Fame, and he also received their Old Timers CY Greenlaw Award. Pete was a member of the Tacoma Elks #174, the Meadow Park Golf Course, and the Tacoma Outboard Association. In 1982, after 31 years of service, Pete retired from the Northwestern Drug Company. A private gathering will be held at a later date. Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. Special thanks to caregivers Larry & Ruby Sant.
