Obituary Patrick John Lee, 22, died this week from a brain injury. Patrick will be remembered for his epic sense of adventure, ability to be a genuine friend, and love of family. Patrick grew up in a close-knit neighborhood on Harvard Avenue in Fircrest. He spent his summers in the Fircrest swimming pool and camping with his family and neighbors. Cub and Boy Scout Troop 299 were a big part of Patrick's life and the place where he made many of his life-long friends. Patrick was the catalyst for many memories that have become part of Troop 299 lore. Scouting was a family affair with his Mom, Dad, brothers and cousin all involved; his Eagle Scout award was celebrated with a great Scout community. Patrick attended Florence's daycare, Skyline Elementary, St. Patrick School and Henry Foss High School, where he was blessed with many caring and dedicated teachers, coaches and staff. He flourished at Henry Foss, where his sense of humor, love of learning for learning's sake, and athletic talents were nurtured. Throughout his life, Patrick made genuine connections with those around him. His positive attitude and ability to strike up a sincere conversation with everyone he met has endeared him to many. Pat's interests and dreams were far-ranging, but two passions remained constant: love of food, and love of soccer. Patrick's appetite was legendary, and his family thanks everyone who fed him, which would probably be everyone who knew him. Pat dreamed of being a professional soccer player, and he loved kickin' it with his friends at indoor soccer. He loved to sport the jerseys of his favorite teams, particularly F.C. Barcelona. Patrick's love of playing soccer and working out led to him finally finding his niche in life. He recently completed the Health Diagnostic and Fitness Program at Pierce College and was studying for the test to become certified as a personal trainer. Patrick's way of living in the moment not only made him fun to be around, it also led to some scrapes along the way. Patrick's mom and dad would like to thank all those who believed in Pat and gave him unconditional support and encouragement. Patrick will be missed by his parents, Suzanne Mayr and David Lee, his brothers Christopher and Steven, grandmother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins and friends. His Grandpa John Lee is waiting to talk to him about those Red Socks and Grandpa Werner Mayr is waiting to make him a big stack of pancakes. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity in the spirit of Pat's love of food or soccer, such as Tacoma's St. Leo Hospitality Kitchen (www.foodconnection.org), World Vision program to provide soccer balls to kids (www.worldvisiongifts.org) or the sports and health promotion programs at www.SoccerSaves.org. All are welcome at a funeral Mass at Church of St. Patrick, corner or North 12th and J streets in Tacoma's North End at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 12. A reception will follow. A Vigil Rosary will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the church. Patrick's big heart will beat on as he makes his final gift to others as an organ donor.
