Patricia Lucille Sankovich

Obituary Patricia Mernaugh Darling Sankovich Patricia Lucille Sankovich, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, died on July 27th at her home in Tacoma, Washington. She was 94. Patricia was born June 23, 1924 in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Letha and Marion Mernaugh. The family moved to Tacoma in 1938 and in 1942 Patricia graduated from Stadium H.S. and married Dale Darling, raising their family in the North End of Tacoma until his death in 1984. In 1988 Pat married John Sankovich. John and Pat were devoted members of the Tacoma Daffodililans and Elks organizations as well as St. Patrick Catholic Church. Pat was an employee of the Tacoma Department of Public Utilities from 1968 until 1986 and had many interests, including music, dancing and gardening. But nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Until the very end, the biggest smiles came when she spotted a grandchild. Patricia was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale and John as well as her son Frank and sisters Marian, LuGuarda and Phyllis. She is survived by her children, Dolly (John) Reed, Kathy (Jake) Zimmerman, Clay Darling, stepchildren Diane (Jim) Hausske, Mary (Steve) Sherman, Nancy Sankovich, John J. (Lori) Sankovich, her sisters Connie Moisio and Callie Sterino and many adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vigil will be held Wednesday, August 1st, 7pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
